Luck Mervil, the famous Haitian-Canadian actor and singer-songwriter, sang the creole version of the national anthem, "La Dessalinienne", during the inauguration of the 56th President of Haiti, Michel Martelly.

"La Dessalinienne" lyrics was written by Justin Lhérisson in honor of Jean-Jacques Dessalines and the music was composed by Nicolas Geffrard. It was adopted as the national anthem in 1904.
