March 13, 2011 - Former Haitian President Jean-Bertrand Aristide will return to Haiti within days according to South African Foreign Ministry official. Aristide has been living in exile in South Africa with his family since he was ousted on February 29, 2004.
Maryse Narcisse, a representative for the political party Lavalas, said that "It's an important event for the people in Haiti because they have waited so long for this".
The international community and the presidential candidates, Michel Martelly and Mirlande Manigat, were hoping that Aristide would not return to Haiti ahead of the second round of elections scheduled for March 20, 2011.
